<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>This review is the second part of the consideration of modern approaches to the synthesis of cellulose acetates and is devoted to cellulose acetylation under the basic catalysis conditions (in the presence of halide and acetate anions, organic superbases, amines, inorganic bases). Analysis of methods for cellulose acetates producing based on the esterification with acetic anhydride and the transesterification with acetic acid esters was carried out. Acetylations of cellulose in solutions (homogeneous acetylation) and in suspensions (heterogeneous acetylation) are considered. Based on the literature data, current trends in research on cellulose substrates acetylation and scientific background for the development of new manufacturing technologies are determined.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>биомасса</kwd><kwd>целлюлоза</kwd><kwd>ацетат целлюлозы</kwd><kwd>ацетилирование</kwd><kwd>основный катализ</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>biomass</kwd><kwd>cellulose</kwd><kwd>cellulose acetate</kwd><kwd>acetylation</kwd><kwd>base catalysis</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group><funding-statement xml:lang="ru">Работа выполнена при финансовой поддержке Российского научного фонда (проект 24-13-00406).</funding-statement><funding-statement xml:lang="en">The work was carried out with the financial support of the Russian Science Foundation (project 24-13-00406).</funding-statement></funding-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Хлебникова Т.
